Myanmar cook shot dead in dhaba

According to sources, the accused is an ex-worker of the dhaba, who had been fired twice from the job

A 25-year-old cook, hailing from Myanmar, was allegedly shot dead at a dhaba in southwest Delhi's Uttam Nagar on Thursday morning.

Inayat had come to Delhi two years back while searching for a job. He was working as a cook at Mulla Biryani Dhaba when the incident took place.

According to the police, they received an information that a firing incident had taken place in block B, JJ Colony, Hastsal, Uttam Nagar. On inquiry, it came to notice that one person named Inayat, aged 25, who was working as a cook at Mulla Biryani Dhaba, was found injured and shifted to Mata Chanan Devi Hospital. He was declared brought dead.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (southwest) Gaurav Sharma said that the deceased had received gun wounds on his back. The pistol used in the crime has been recovered from the spot and efforts are being made to nab the accused.

The incident took place when the shop was opened and customers started coming. The accused entered the dhaba with the pistol, took aim at Inayat and shot at him. The victim fell to the ground following which the accused fled from the spot before anyone could catch him.

Police said that the incident has been captured on CCTV. A case of murder has been registered at Uttam Nagar police station.

"The staff of the dhaba is being questioned. An investigation is underway to trace the accused. He will be nabbed soon," said a senior police officer.

According to sources, the accused is an ex-worker of the dhaba, who had been fired twice from the job.
