Mumbai University students stage protest, demand results

Around 300 students including law students gheraoed the examination building of the University of Mumbai at the Kalina campus on Tuesday, demanding an immediate declaration of their re-evaluation results.

Amey Malshe, a second year Law student on October 11 threatened the Vice-Chancellor of Mumbai University Dr Devanand Shinde, in writing, of going on an indefinite fast if all the pending results are not declared. The university at that time assured him that all the results that have been reserved due to various reasons and those which are pending due to missing answer sheets would be declared within six days.

Malshe said, "Along with many students and parents, I protested today in front of the controller of examination building and also performed an aarti. The university has declared most of the reserved results but still there are results of many different streams yet to be declared. We made demands like passing all students to Dinesh Kamble, In-charge registrar of MU. He also promised to postpone the date of ATKT form filling for all streams to October 30, and assured that the revaluation results would be declared within a week's time."

Kamble said, "Of around 51,000 results, we have declared the results of almost 24,000 students till date. The university will upload the details of all those students' results whose papers are missing, within two days. The delay is due to Diwali vacation. Our professors are trying their best to declare the results as fast as they can by correcting the papers. We have invited three representative students to meet the members of examination committee to hear their plea."
