A day after a 35-year-old woman had alleged that she was abducted and gang-raped in a moving car, Greater Noida police, on Tuesday, detained an auto rickshaw driver, who had dropped the victim to MG road.

The police however have failed to make any arrest in the case.

The victim was allegedly gang-raped in a moving car by three men after being abducted from Gurugram on Monday night and dumped on Tuesday morning in Greater Noida's Kasna area. The victim has recorded her statement with Greater Noida police, officials said on Tuesday.

On Wednesday her statement under section 164 of CrPC was recorded in the city court. An FIR was lodged in Kasna police station as Gurugram police refused to lodge an FIR into the matter. Gautam Budh Nagar, senior superintendent of police, Love Kumar said that an FIR has been lodged with Kasna police station and the matter is being investigated by Greater Noida police.

Explaining the details, a senior police officer on the condition of anonymity said that the victim had boarded the auto rickshaw from Erdi road in Sohna for MG road. The rickshaw driver had dropped the victim and reportedly introduced her to the three men travelling in the white colour Maruti Swift car. The cops are questioning him as to the details of the absconding accused.

Police sources also said that some raids have been conducted in Delhi-NCR to nab the culprits. "So far, we have not arrested the accused. We are expecting to arrest them soon. Our teams are working day and night on the case to nab the culprits. We are probing the case from all angles," the official added.

The matter first came to notice when the police control room in Greater Noida, received a call around 4 am on Tuesday, stating that an unattended woman was lying near a restaurant, quite close to Kasna police station. Police said that a passer-by had informed them about the incident.

The police reached the spot and found the woman lying unattended. She has been admitted to Yatharth Hospital. Some bottles of beer were also noticed at the spot.

The woman, a resident of Bharatpur in Rajasthan, had come to meet a relative in Sohna last week.
