In another incident of crime against women, a 30-year-old was allegedly molested and thrown out of a moving cab by three men on the Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway. However, the woman alleged that police "forced" her to file a case of robbery only.

The woman, a native of Himachal Pradesh's Kangra district, said the incident took place on Thursday around 8 pm, after she left office and took a private cab from the busy Shankar Chowk of neighbouring Gurugram for Hero Honda Chowk.

"While I was waiting for a cab, a taxi stopped near me. I asked the driver to drop me at Hero Honda Chowk. Though there were two persons seated in the vehicle already, I didn't doubt their intention and assumed they are co-passengers," she said.

The woman alleged that the three men, including the driver, began molesting her as soon as they approached Jharsa Chowk. "When I resisted them and tried to raise an alarm, they gagged and choked me. They even tried to rape me."

The accused then snatched her phone and wallet and threw her out of the moving car near Rajiv Chowk and fled from the spot.

With the help of a passerby, she informed her husband and the couple later approached the Sector-40 police station.

"Initially, the police officers did not file an FIR on molestation and other relevant charges and tried to hush-up the matter by assuring they will visit the spot. They then forced us to file a robbery complaint and registered the FIR on the basis of it," she alleged.

Reacting to the allegations, Gurgaon Police Chief PRO Manish Sehgal said that the woman had only filed a complaint related to robbery and there was no mention of a rape attempt or molestation.

"The couple wrote a complaint of mobile and cash theft and we have registered the FIR accordingly. In the complaint, they did not mention any use of force, molestation, or attempted rape by the accused," he said.
