Now verifying the authenticity of your preferred liquor brand is literally in your hand as the Delhi Government has developed a mobile application for the benefit of the customers and to put a cap on sale of illicit liquor.

The app, named 'mLiquorSaleCheck', will allow customers to verify the authenticity of liquor purchased and at the same time help the excise department monitor sale of illicit and spurious liquor in the national capital.

The app provides real-time information based on scanning of a barcode pasted on the cap or case of the bottle. The user after scanning the barcode gets the information such as brand name, size, etc, from a central server and the application tells the customer whether the liquor bought is coming through an excise-approved system or not, a government release here said.

"While it provides critical information to the customer of the product he purchased, it helps the excise department to have the information as to where spurious or illicit liquor sale is rampant," it said.
