A police post was burnt down and the Kirti Nagar Station House Officer and three others sustained injuries after being pelted with stones on Monday, following the murder of an 18-year-old youth.

According to the police, four goons in the Chuda Mandi area of west Delhi had been troubling the sister of Krishna (name changed), for the last one month. On Sunday, Krishna approached his friend Manoj, the victim, and asked him to accompany him while he had a word with the accused boys.

When the duo reached the area, the accused were reportedly drunk. "They went to talk to the goons as the police did not do anything despite a written complaint being registered in this regard a month ago. All of the accused were drunk and started bashing up the two boys. They stabbed Manoj in the neck with a knife just as he was about to leave," said Kamini Nishad, a friend of Krishna's sister.

She added that Krishna ran to the police station, located hardly five minutes from the crime scene, after Manoj was stabbed but none of the cops turned up. The locals alleged that the police were hand- in-glove with the four accused and that is why they did not come forward to help despite several people urging them to intervene in the matter. Manoj later died of his injuries. Locals, family members, and friends of Manoj then went on a rampage, blocked the roads in the area and burned down a police post. A protest was also staged outside the police station and stones were pelted at the cops. Police said they have registered a separate case after the mob went on rampage.

Meanwhile, a case of murder has been registered and the accused have been identified as Sonu, Raman, Rahul, and Munna.
