Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Amanatullah Khan resigned from party's Political Affairs Committee (PAC) panel on Monday after party leadership objected to his statement against Kumar Vishwas.

Khan, however, maintained that he voluntarily resigned from the top post. "I've voluntarily resigned from the PAC panel but I'll maintain that Kumar Vishvas was hand in glove with the BJP and RSS," he told reporters after the PAC meeting late on Monday night.

"Vishvas ate cake with Bassi and Ajit Doval when AAP MLAs were arrested. Kejriwal will realise it soon," he added.

"Khan himself put down the papers and his  resignation from the PAC panel has been accepted by the party,"  Delhi Deputy Chief Manish Sisodia confirmed.

"Kejriwal is really upset with party MLAs including Khan and Vishvas for giving statements outside the party. If MLAs have any problem they should reach out to the leadership instead of talking about it public sphere," Sisodia added.

Both Khan and Vishwas are members of the PAC, party's highest decision making body. While Khan submitted his resignation during the meeting, Kumar gave it a miss. A source on the party had informed that Kumar skipped the meeting saying "either he or Khan could be present there at a time."
Earlier in the day, several party MLAs had signed a letter urging party chief Arvind Kejriwal to expel Khan for terming Vishwas as a "BJP agent."

"The MLAs have condemned Amanatullah's statement and see it as an anti-party act. They also demanded a probe to ascertain on whose behest Khan has made such a statement," sources in the party said.

Delhi Ministers Kapil Mishra and Imran Hussain were among those who have signed the letter, sources said. Minister of Food and Civil Supplies Hussain had tweeted, "Amanatullah has lost his mental balance."

The development came a day after Khan had alleged that Vishwas was hatching a conspiracy to usurp and break up the party. He circulated a WhatsApp message saying, "Kumar Vishwas is trying to usurp AAP and break AAP. He is calling MLAs to his residence and saying that he should be made the party convener. Or else, they (MLAs) can join the BJP, which is ready to pay Rs 30 crore to each MLA."

"I think this is happening at the behest of the BJP. It has deployed four MLAs to take AAP legislators to Kumar Vishwas' house. This has been confirmed by at least 10 party MLAs," he added.
