Mission Delhi University: Second cut-off list out; witnesses a marginal dip in closing percentage

The Delhi University (DU) on Sunday announced its second cut-off list with admissions in many popular courses being closed in most sought-after colleges and a marginal dip recorded in the cut-off for other courses.

For instance, at Lady Shri Ram (LSR) College, admissions are closed in many courses including BA (Hons) History, Political Science, Economics, Psychology, Sociology and BCom (Hons) as per the second cut-off list.

Hindu College has closed admissions in all Science courses for the general category students except in BSc (Hons) Botany. Besides, there will be no more admission in BA (Hons) Political Science, Sanskrit and BA (Prog) at the college as per the second cut-off. There is a marginal drop of 0.25 per cent in BCom (Hons), BA (Hons) Economic and BA (Hons) English at the college.

However, admissions are still on in Sri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC) with a marginal drop in the cut-off to 97.375 per cent from 97.75 per cent for BCom (Hons) and to 98.25 per cent from 98.5 per cent for BA (Hons) Economics in the second list.

While at Miranda House, admissions are closed in BA (Hons) Bengali, Geography, Philosophy, Political Science and BSc (Physical Science with Computer), there will be no in-takes in BA (Hons) History, Political Science, BA (Prog) and BSc (Hons) Chemistry and Zoology at Gargi College. Seats in courses such as Geography (Hons), History (Hons) and BA (Prog) are completely filled at the Kamala Nehru College. The available seats in BA (Prog) are filled in many colleges despite the course with the highest cut-off (98.75%) in the first list.

At Kirori Mal College, admissions are closed in Sanskrit (Hons), Urdu (Hons) and BSc (Physical Science). Similarly, there will be no more admissions in Hindi (Hons), BA (Prog) and BCom (Prog) at Ramjas College. However, all courses are still available at Hansraj College under the second cut-off list with it making a marginal drop of 0.25 per cent to 1.25 per cent in several courses.

Meanwhile, several off-campus colleges failed to attract students with Shivaji College, which had announced the highest cut-off in BCom (Hons) in the first list, witnessing a drop of 2.5 per cent. Similarly, Delhi College of Arts and Commerce that had announced highest cut-off of 98.5 for Journalism (Hons) dropped it to 97.25 in the second list.

DU has already filled 25 per cent of the available 56,000 seats and the competition will be fierce under the second cut-off as well. The admissions for the second cut-off will be done till Wednesday and the third cut-off is scheduled to be released on Friday evening.
