A five-year-old was allegedly kidnapped, raped and murdered by one of her neighbours on Friday in Indirapuram, Ghaziabad. The girl went missing on Thursday afternoon and her body was later found in an under construction building near her house on Friday night. Police have detained three men in the case.
According to the police, Afrooz, one of the accused, was last seen asking for water from the girl when she was playing outside her house on Thursday. Alam and Afrooz's father are the other two detained. The body of the girl was found with injury marks on her neck.
" We are suspecting sexual assault but are still waiting for the post-mortem reports. We have detained the three men. Initially, a case of abduction was lodged but we have added Indian penal sections of 302, 376, 201, 363 and POCSO in the case."said Deepak Kumar, senior superintendent of police, Ghaziabad.
According to the victim's father, the girl was playing outside her house and went missing on Thursday afternoon. " We came out to call her for lunch but she was not to be seen around. We began searching for her everywhere but couldn't find her. The kids playing with her told me that she went to give water to Afrooz and didn't return since then," said the victim's father.
"A neighbour told us about the body. She was seen bleeding from her nose and had injury marks around her neck. She was in a semi-naked condition. There are chances that she might have been raped and then murdered," he added.
Afrooz, a mason, who hails from Bihar, was a tenant and was thrown out of the victim's house ten days ago. He had then moved to a nearby house. "Afrooz was very disrespectful which led me to throw him out of our house. I am sure that he along with his associate Alam abducted her to take revenge," he added. Heavy police has been deployed in the area for extensive patrolling.
