Two different cases of rapes were reported in the national capital on Wednesday in three different districts. In the first, a minor was allegedly raped by his neighbour in East Delhi's Madhu Vihar area. The second was reported from South East Delhi's Badarpur area in which the woman has claimed that she was raped on the pretext of getting a job.
In the first incident, a 30-year-old cab driver has been arrested for allegedly raping a 16-year-old girl inside his house in east Delhi's Madhu Vihar on Wednesday. According to the police, the incident took place in September when the accused who used to drop the girl to school allegedly made her bunk the school and then raped her inside his room.
Police said that the incident came to light after a school teacher of the victim informed her parents that the she had missed school one day in September.
"The victim's parents questioned her for bunking school and after sometime she broke down and narrated the order to her parents. She alleged that she had become friends with the driver and one day instead of dropping her to school, he took her to his house and then alleged raped her," said a senior police officer.
The parents approached police after which a case under the relevant sections of the IPC (Indian penal Code and POCSO (Protection of Children From Sexual Offences) Act, and the accused was arrested.
In the second incident, a 22-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly raping a 20-year-old girl on the pretext of proving her a job in south-east Delhi's Badarpur area. Police said that the incident took place last month while the complaint was lodged on Wednesday.
According to the police, the victim claimed that the two were neighbours and after the death of her father, the accused assured her of providing her the job.
"In the complaint, victim has mentioned that last month, the accused took her to her uncle's room when the uncle was away and he allegedly raped her there. He then threatened her to face the consequences. The victim further alleged that the accused tried to force himself on her several times," said a senior police officer.
The victim somehow gathered courage and narrated the ordeal to her mother following which they filed a complaint against the accused on Wednesday.
"A case against the accused was registered and the accused was arrested from his resident and have been sent to judicial custody. Further investigation is under way," said the officer.
