A 17-year-old girl was stabbed to death by her brother-in-law and two of his associates in South-East Delhi's Badarpur area on Monday evening. The accused brother-in-law had allegedly killed her as his brother had committed suicide two months back and he suspected her as a reason behind his death.

According to the police the incident took place in Tajpur Pahari area around 7:46 pm. Police officials said that the grandparents of the girl and her mother were present at home when the incident took place. "Amit, the brother-in-law of the deceased and two other young men came and stabbed the girl multiple times after which she collapsed on the roof of the house. She was rushed to the Apollo hospital where she was declared dead on arrival," said a police officer.

Investigations also revealed that the deceased had shifted to her mother's place after her husband Ayush (20) committed suicide about two months ago. Amit suspected that it was because of her that his brother had died and in order to avenge his death, he killed the minor girl.

According to the family members of the girl, she had eloped with her Ayush and later married him and was settled in Faridabad. "We had told her not to marry him as she was a child and it was way too early. However, she did not listen and went with him. Ever since her husband died she had been living with us," said the mother of the girl.

FAMILY MISSING

After the murder, various police teams carried out raids at the residence of Amit, however, his entire family is absconding. Efforts are being made to nab him. A case of murder has been registered.
