Mika Singh's former employee arrested by Delhi Police for theft in singer's house

A former employee of renowned Bollywood and Punjabi singer Amreek Singh alias Mika was arrested by the Delhi Police on Tuesday in connection with a theft case at the singer's house at Oshiwara in Mumbai. The Delhi Police recovered three times the amount which was stolen from his residence. The accused told the police that he had been secretly stealing money for around a year now.

The accused identified as Ankit Vasan (27) worked as an editor with Mika. The police recovered $6,900, Rs 50,000 in cash, Rs 5 lakh which were kept in three different bank accounts, hard disks containing music software, albums and keys of the singer's studio.

On July 29, a case of theft was registered at the Oshiwara police station after the singer reported the matter to the police. A team led by SHO Kirti Nagar Anil Sharma developed inputs and two of the beat staff in the area received a tip-off about the arrival of Vasan at a friend's house. Vasan, a native of Uttam Nagar area in Delhi had come to stay at his girlfriend's house in order to evade arrest. The police swung into action and searched as many as 50-60 houses after which Vasan was arrested.

"Ankit Vasan told the police that he was working with Mika as editor for 15 years and had been clandestinely stealing the cash and valuables regularly. However, on July 29, after being noticed by the singer, he fled from the office," said Vijay Kumar, Deputy Commissioner of Police, West Delhi.

Vasan stayed in Mumbai for two days after which he landed in Delhi on Tuesday. On his instance, the police recovered the cash. He told the police that he got used to the lifestyle like that of the singer and would steal the cash as per his requirement. He used the money to pamper his girlfriends and also to show off people in the industry.
