The Union Home Ministry has directed the Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party to submit details of all foreign donations it has received so far by May 16. The ministry has also asked the party to submit details of its sources, nature and amount of donations it has received from foreign countries.

In a major setback to AAP, which has constantly been maintaining that it was open to any scrutiny of donations it has received so far, the ministry questioned about the donation it received from foreign countries, as well as names of the countries.

Reacting to this, AAP issued a statement: "We have nothing to hide. We are ready to face any probe and party will fully cooperate with all concerned officials and agencies. It's worth mentioning that the Ministry of Home Affairs had given us a clean chit before the High Court on this issue and now they are sending us fresh notices."

The party also stated that it is a clear case of political witch hunt. "All the agencies at the Centre's disposal have been unleashed against AAP, its government in Delhi and its ministers. Which is very dangerous for democracy," the statement said.

The party also displays its list of donors along with the amount of donations they have paid on its official website.

In a letter, accessed by DNA, to the AAP's chief functionary, the ministry has now asked for details of the shareholding pattern of the corporation or company or the source from where AAP has received these donations. The letter said that the requisite information has to be provided in year-wise tabulated form. It said that the party should specify changes in the shareholding pattern in foreign equity in the company or corporation or any other source from which the donations have been received.
