The national capital on Saturday recorded the lowest temperature of the season, with the mercury dropping to 3.2 degrees Celsius. The dip in temperature led to the cancellation and rescheduling of trains due to poor visibility. However, flight operations were not affected. The Safdarjung observatory recorded a 3.2 degrees, four notches below the season's average, a Met official said.

Both Lodhi Road and Ayanahar observatories recorded a minimum of 3.6 degrees Celsius, while areas under Palam and Ridge registered a low of 4.6 and 5.2 degrees Celsius respectively. While 44 north-bound trains were running late, 13 had to be rescheduled. This apart, another eight trains were cancelled, a senior railway official said. The maximum temperature at the Safdarjung observatory on Saturday settled at 19.3 degrees Celsius, one degree below normal, the Met official said.

Also, visibility was recorded at 800 metres at 5.30 am at Safdarjung and dropped to 300 metres at 8.30 am, before significantly improving to 800 metres at 11.30 am.

The Met department has predicted cloudy skies for Sunday, with chances of light drizzle and rain. "Maximum and minimum temperatures tomorrow are likely to oscillate around 20 and 7 degrees Celsius," the official said.
On Friday, the maximum and minimum temperatures at Safdarjung were recorded at 19.5 degrees Celsius and 4.3 degrees Celsius respectively.
