A 50-year-old man was injured after a speeding Mercedes car rammed into him in south Delhi’s Moti Bagh Chowk area on Tuesday night. The car driver managed to flee from the spot. This is the second Mercedes hit-and-run case in the last 48 hours.

According to the police, the incident took place around 5pm. Moti Bagh resident Dasrath Yadav was crossing the road when a car being driven at a speed of over 100 kmph hit him, eyewitnesses said.

“The Mercedes was bearing temporary number UP16TC 1295. Yadav sustained grievous head injuries and is unable to record a statement. A case of negligent driving and causing hurt has been registered at South Campus police station,” a senior police officer said.

The car was coming from the Vasant Vihar area. It was at such high speed that Yadav was flung in the air for a few metres. A wireless message to trace the car was later sent across.
