Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief Manoj Tiwari, in an unsparing attack, has asked Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to return to Delhi "at the earliest" and take charge. The BJP leader has written a letter to the CM, citing media reports that he has been declared fit as a fiddle by doctors of Jindal Naturopathy Institute.

"As per the media reports citing latest health bulletin by Jindal Naturopathy Institute, doctors have described your health as completely good. Now that you have been declared fit by the doctors, you must return to Delhi at the earliest and resume work," Tiwari has written. He wants Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief to prioritise de-silting of drains with the monsoon in the national capital around the corner. "With monsoon set to hit Delhi next week, immediate attention of Delhi government is needed to ensure unclogging of drains so that Delhiites do not face waterlogging on streets and residential colonies," the letter reads.

The North East Delhi MP also mentioned the acute water crisis Delhiites are facing since the beginning of summer season. Drawing on Kejriwal's role as the head of the government and Delhi Jal Board, Tiwari reminded him of the obligation he was under to address the matter. The politician also asked the CM to pay attention to other pressing issues like power cuts, pollution and deteriorating health of the citizens.

Kejriwal had left for Bengaluru last week to get treated at the naturopathy institute after his health dipped during the nine-day-long siege he laid on Raj Niwas. According to reports, his blood sugar had increased.

Meanwhile, the BJP reacted sharply to the AAP's call to start Delhi's own Chipko Movement as a response to the felling of thousands of trees by the NBCC. Tiwari said that while Sundar Lal Bahuguna's initiative was to protect green cover, the projects by NBCC will not affect that in Delhi. He further claimed that Delhi government was indulging in cheap politics over felling of trees, and undermining the magnanimity of the Chipko Movement.
