A man was shot at by his neighbour and his friends following a heated argument between them in northwest Delhi's Shalimar Bagh area on Saturday. Police have arrested three men while efforts to nab others involved are being made, they said.

In another case, two women complained that they are being threatened by a group of men, who had opened fire to threaten them in south Delhi's Saket. Police said that the matter is being probed.

In the first incident reported late night on Saturday, one Jitender (26), a resident of Shalimar Bagh slum cluster received a bullet injury below his right shoulder. Senior police officers said that it was following a quarrel between the neighbours and Jitender which grew worse and his neighbour pulled out a pistol.

"The victim has alleged that four men, identified as Dharmender, Arvinder, Raja and Anna fired upon him. A case of attempt to murder and arms act has been registered. Three of the accused, Arvinder, Anna and Raja have been arrested. Further raids are on to apprehend the rest of the accused.

The motive appears to be a fight between the neighbours as both the victim and the accused live adjacent to each other in a cluster area of Shalimar Bagh," said Aslam Khan, DCP northwest, adding that the victim as well as accused, both have a criminal record.

In another incident reported from Saket in south Delhi, two women have come forward and have got FIR registered against some men from their locality alleging that they opened fire to threaten them. DCP south, Romil Baaniya, however, said that both groups have a previous history of complaints and cases against each other.

"Circumstances and contents of complaints from Saturday night's incidents are being examined with complete objectivity. A criminal case has been registered on an initial complaint in which suspects have been named. Two named suspects in the FIR are currently being interrogated by police team to verify their involvements," Baaniya said.
