Suspecting his wife of having an affair, a 40-year-old man allegedly killed her by slitting her throat. He then beheaded her using a saw and lived with the mutilated body for over two days, till the neighbours complained of a foul smell to the police. It has also been revealed that the man himself had married another woman, Munia, 25, in Ranchi, his hometown.

The matter came to light on Tuesday morning after neighbours complained of a foul smell to the police. Accused Subodh Kumar, a carpenter by profession, has confessed to the crime, the police said. The incident took place in east Delhi's Chander Vihar area.

Kumar and his wife Manisha, 34, used to argue over several issues often, including his severe drug addiction and alcoholism. The couple has two daughters, but their whereabouts are unknown, at present.

According to the police, on Saturday, the couple had yet another heated argument, which soon turned into a scuffle. In a fit of rage, Kumar slit Manisha's throat with an iron blade. Then unable to dispose off the body, he beheaded her with a saw. He kept the head in a storage box while the body kept lying in the room.

Reportedly, Kumar even confided in a friend about the murder, but the latter did not inform the police. The neighbours made a PCR call on Monday around 11am. The accused was planning to flee when he was nabbed by the cops.

A case under appropriate sections has been registered at the Madhu Vihar police station and further investigation is underway, an officer said.
