Lieutenant Governor (L-G) Anil Baijal has rejected the Delhi government's scheme of doorstep delivery of ration to beneficiaries, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said on Wednesday.

The Delhi Cabinet had on March 6 approved a proposal to deliver ration in packets to beneficiaries while they will be roping in a private company for delivery. The proposal regarding the same had been sent to the L-G for approval.

"Very sad that Hon'ble LG has rejected doorstep delivery of ration scheme. I had repeatedly requested him to give me an audience before taking a decision but he did not. Feeling really really sad that such important proposals are becoming victims of petty politics," Kejriwal said in a tweet on Wednesday.

Earlier this month, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia had attacked the L-G, as the recent alleged assault on chief secretary Anshu Prakash was prompted on this issue.

"Why are you protecting the ration mafia? It is quite visible that the L-G is supporting the mafia running in the Capital. There is definitely some conspiracy. The CS has sent the food commissioner on leave at a time when an important issue related to his department is being discussed," Sisodia had said after the Cabinet meeting.

The issue was discussed in the previous Cabinet meeting in which the government had asked the Chief Secretary to prepare the report on e-POS machines and submit it in a week. Fair Price Shops in Delhi which sell ration will no longer use the e-POS Aadhaar-linked machine for distribution of ration, the Cabinet had decided. The shops will, instead, give ration by verifying the details on ration cards, which is the way it was being done till November last year.

On February 27, Sisodia targeted the Chief Secretary and blamed him over the delay in doorstep delivery of ration services.
