A day after Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal sought a list of major traffic bottlenecks in the city from the chief secretary, Lt. Governor Anil Baijal sent a letter to the CM, telling him about the decongestion work that has been going on since last year.

Baijal took into account various newspaper reports that appeared on Wednesday about Kejriwal demanding names of major congestion points, by August 15.

In his letter, Baijal told the CM that traffic has been a major focal point for him ever since he assumed office in December 2016. He also shared with Kejriwal that six task forces were constituted by him in the month of January, each convened by concerned DCP Range (Traffic), to identify congested corridors and suggest short-term as well as medium/long term solutions for the smooth flow of traffic.

"These Task Forces conducted extensive field visits and studies and submitted a list of 77 corridors out of which 28 were identified as Category – A "Priority" corridors.

Separately, encroachments on each of these were also identified for appropriate action as per law," according to the letter.

Major traffic corridors requiring congestion were also identified. These are Aurobindo Marg (Aurobindo Marg to Andheria More), Mathura Road (Neela Gumbad to Badarpur Flyover), Savitri Flyover (Chirag Delhi Crossing to Savitri Flyover), Sardar Patel Marg, (11 Murti to Rajokari Border) and Dhaula Kuan, (Dhaula Kuan Flyover to GGR Flyover, Sanjay T-Point).
