Lieutenant Governor (L-G) Anil Baijal on Wednesday slammed the sports wing of the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) for its long-pending projects and directed the officials to ensure time-bound completion of new sports complexes in the city.

"DDA should ensure time-bound completion of new sports complexes at Dwarka, Narela, and Rohini," the L-G office said in a statement. The work on these projects will commence in April, July, and September 2017, respectively. The projects are expected to be completed within 18 months.

During the meeting, Baijal also asked the DDA to take all necessary safety precautions, including an adequate number of lifesaving personnel, at its swimming pools to avoid mishaps. "The L-G also instructed to ensure that the depth of swimming pools is as per the government norms," the statement read.

He further advised that the DDA should ensure that the maintenance and operations of DDA fitness centers are outsourced to experienced and reliable agencies and the manpower engaged is of highest standards. "All gym equipment should be in a functional condition," he said during the meeting.

He also directed the DDA to make greater utilisation of its sports facilities, with an objective to nurture good sportspersons.
