L-G nod to development of 95 villages under Land Pooling Policy

The villages come under the 1957 Delhi Development Act in five zones including Zone K-1, Zone L, Zone N, Zone P-II, and Zone J. These zones have 20, 30, 21, 23, and 1 village, respectively.

Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal gave a big push to Delhi's planned development and affordable housing after he approved the notification for declaring that 95 villages in Delhi come under DDA development areas under the Land Pooling Policy (LPP).

The development of these 95 villages will result in over 25 lakh houses in the planned areas of the city. DDA will also be responsible for sewerage, water supply, electricity supply, bus terminals etc, and also return a portion of the plot to farmers.

The villages come under the 1957 Delhi Development Act in five zones including Zone K-1, Zone L, Zone N, Zone P-II, and Zone J. These zones have 20, 30, 21, 23, and 1 village, respectively.

The DDA will be responsible for the social infrastructure development and this declaration is a welcome step towards implementation the land pooling policy. Under this, affordable housing and infrastructure development can now be made possible

After approval, L-G tweeted, "Approved notification of 95 villages as development areas of DDA. Push for affordable housing, social and physical infrastructure needs of Delhi (sic)."

If 50 acres and above of land are pooled together by the DDA, the land-owning agency will have to return 60 per cent of the pooled land to farmers. In case the land pooled in five acres, the DDA will have to return 48 per cent of the land, according to the government.

While the notification will result in unlocking of an estimated 55,000-57,000 hectares of land and the policy will result in creating homes around 29 lakh citizens, who belong to the economically weaker sections of society.
