Despite the claims of the Delhi Police that adequate security measures have been taken to ensure smooth screening of Padmaavat, few parts of the Capital witnessed vandalism and roadblocks on Wednesday, by the Karni Sena members.

Senior police officers, however, said that they were ready to cope with such instances and that no casualties or injuries were reported.

Expressing concern over the protests, Arvind Kejriwal said it is not good for the already "dwindling" economy of the country. "If all state governments, Centre and the SC together cannot get one movie released and run safely, how can we expect investments to flow in? (sic)" Kejriwal tweeted. He added that such a situation where investments are discouraged is bad for job creation.

As close to as 150 Sena volunteers, wearing yellow masks, carrying flags and shouted slogans like'Jai Bhawani' and 'Jai Rajputana' vandalised cars parked near PVR theater in Prashant Vihar. In few instances, the attacks were carried out in the presence of cops.

Hundreds of Sena members vandalised five cars and warned the theater administration to cancel the screenings, police said.

The volunteers also created a ruckus in nearby areas and few of them were detained by the police but were later released.

Similar instances were reported from North-West Delhi where few bikers attempted to blocks roads in areas like Mukherjee Nagar, Mukarba intersection and Haidarpur. Aslam Khan, DCP northwest said, "We were expecting such incidents and before they could cause any loss, police controlled the situation. After being warned, the group left and did not cause any damage."

Depender Pathak, Special Commissioner, Delhi Police stated that they have made adequate arrangements to deal with such situations. "Delhi Police, paramilitary forces, and other agencies will be deployed across the Capital to cope with any incident. We have also directed our local intelligence and sources to keep a tab on any such information," said Pathak.

Another senior police officer said, "All the vendors situated nearby theaters have been specifically informed to keep their eyes and ears open. Police staff in civil dress will be patrolling around the ticket counters to keep things under control."
