Juvenile kills son in front of mother

A 16-year-old boy was killed in front of his mother by another juvenile in northwest Delhi's Bharat Nagar area on Thursday. Police have apprehended the juvenile and also arrested a man who they say had instigated the juvenile to kill the boy.

The deceased was identified as Shahrukh.

According to the police, they received information from authorities at the Hindu Rao Hospital that a boy had died of fatal injuries. When the police arrived there the deceased's mother Shakeela, who claimed to be an eyewitness to her child's death, told them in a statement that she was at her house when around 11:45 am when a boy came rushing to her house and informed her that her son and a boy from the locality were quarrelling near the railway lines.

"When she rushed to the spot, she found that her son had been forced to the ground and another juvenile was thrashing him. Another man, identified later as Dinesh Chegi, was instigating the juvenile to kill the boy. Seeing the lady and following Dinesh's instigation, the youth took a broken bottle and cut Shahrukh's neck. As the woman cried for help, the duo ran away," said a senior police officer.

When the woman rushed her son to hospital, he was declared dead. Police said that based on the woman's statement, a case of murder has been registered at Bharat Nagar police station.

Following investigations and local intelligence, police said their team soon arrested Dinesh Chegi for instigating the youth to commit murder. The juvenile who allegedly killed Shahrukh was also apprehended.

"The body has been sent for post-mortem and the matter is being probed," said DCP (Northwest) Milind Dumbre.
