As Jat protests hit parts of the national Capital and adjoining areas, the Delhi Police intelligence unit, Special Branch, has apparently prepared a secret report on demands put forward by Jat leaders and sent it to the Prime Minister's Office (PMO).

Sources in the Special Branch have said that the Jat agitation will intensify, creating a major law and order problem during the Uttar Pradesh Assembly election. "Jat leaders are organising a massive protest in the coming days to put more pressure on the government," they said.

In a missive to senior Intelligence officers, accessed by DNA, Assistant Commissioner of Police Anil Kapoor has sounded an alert related to the Jat agitation and has also mentioned the Jat community memorandum sent to the PMO.

The officer said the community, under the banner of Akhil Bhartiya Jat Aarakshan Sangharsh Samiti, is seeking reservation in education and government job sectors. The agitating leaders also seek cancellation of Kurukshetra MP Raj Kumar Saini's membership, who reportedly indulged in hate speeches against them. They are also demanding that the hate speech issue should be handled by the Ethic Committee of Parliament.

"Saini should be put behind the bars for indulging in a planned assault on the people of Jat community before and during the agitation through an OBC brigade formed by him. The matter should be sent to the Ethic Committee of Parliament and his membership should be abolished," the missive stated. Jat leaders have further urged the Centre to direct the state governments of Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, and Rajasthan to provide reservation to the community members under the OBC category and bring a legislation in Parliament in this regard. On Wednesday, the community members organised a protest in northwest Delhi's Savda Ghevra Mod on Rohtak Road.

Meanwhile, to address the issue, the Haryana government has constituted a five-member committee, headed by Chief Secretary DS Dhesi. Last week, the ABJASS had announced a series of protests in Delhi's border areas in support of the quota agitation by Jats in Rohtak, which has remained peaceful, so far. The protests assume significance in view of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly election.

The community leaders have also demanded that the Haryana government should release the people lodged in jails based on false cases registered against them during the Jat agitation held in February 2016, as per the compromise held with ABJASS on February 22, 2016, March 18, 2016, and June 18, 2016.
