Sounding a note of warning for the Centre on Thursday, Jaat community members declared that if their demand for reservation was not fulfilled, they will lay a siege to Delhi on March 20. Over 15,000 protesters had gathered at Jantar Mantar.

The assembled protesters also tried to march towards the Parliament but were stopped by the police, who had barricaded the entire area. Thousands of them were detained at the location itself.

Termed the community members who were killed in the violence of February, 2016, 'Shaheed', the protesters demanded that their families be given compensation and government jobs, and those who were jailed be set free.

"Around 20,000 brothers are in jail for no reason. We want them to be free. People were killed on the directions of the government and their families are suffering now. The government cannot fool us anymore," said Rohtash Hooda, a resident of Rohtak, who has been living in Delhi for over two decades now.

Their main demand was reservation in the state (the case pending in a Haryana court) and the Centre. "The government should wake up from their Kumbhkaran sleep and realise the intensity of the situation. If our demands are not met, then all roads leading to Delhi will be shut down on March 20. We have asked people to bring all their vehicles, including tractors and trucks, and animals like buffaloes, along with tents and necessary materials for survival. We won't move until our demands are met," said Yashpal Malik, National President of the Jaat Agitation.

He further said they will also do a gherao of the Parliament and announced the movement as 'Delhi Kooch'. "The common man will suffer, we know that. But we are also the common citizens of this country and we will have to do this for us," he added. The Jaat Agitation has been continuing for the last 33 days.
