Ten minutes after getting a pistol issued on the pretext of having been deployed for the security arrangements of an event, a Delhi Police Inspector, Kaushal Ganguly, deployed with the District Investigation Unit of the south east district allegedly shot himself in the bathroom of the CR Park police station on Wednesday. No suicide note was recovered from his possession, officers said.
Senior officers said that apparently the man was depressed due to ongoing tussles with his wife and family reasons. It also emerged that the officer had an inquiry pending against him, but no official confirmation could be received in the matter.
"At 6 pm, the officials at the police station rushed upstairs hearing a gun shot and found Ganguly lying in a pool of blood. An ambulance was called and he was rushed to Max hospital in Saket where he was declared dead. The body was sent for a post-mortem examination and family members were informed," said a senior officer.
