Don't be surprised if you suddenly spot youngsters clad in Congress t-shirts dancing away to glory at public places. Keeping pace with the ever-changing time, the party has kicked off a flash mob plan in various parts of the Capital.

In an attempt to give the campaigning for municipal polls a "vibrant" touch, the party has planned over 500 such flash mobs in the Capital. Dressed in standard white t-shirts and jeans, these groups of young people will dance to songs that speak of the work done by the Grand Old Party. Congress ko laana hai, Dilli ko bachana hai (Congress has to be brought back, Delhi has to be saved) will be the theme song for these youth.

The first flash mob in this series took place in the Rajouri Garden Assembly constituency. The Congress started its campaign from there because the constituency will have a by-election on April 9.

"There are five teams, with 10 members in each team. We will target a crowded place in a particular constituency daily, and then start the performance. It will be a four-minute performance, in which we will also engage the general public," said Vijay Sharma from the Saaz Foundation, which has trained the volunteers for the flash mob.

Delhi Congress leader Chattar Singh said at least 540 flash mobs would be organised at markets across the Capital. He added that the party had applied for permission from the police.

"This year we thought of campaigning with new ideas. Flash mobs are a very interesting way to interact with the general public," Chief Spokesperson of the Delhi Congress and classical dancer, Sharmistha Mukherjee, said.

Meanwhile, the party has been facing tough time with veteran leaders such as Dr AK Walia threatening to quit the party. Unhappy with the ticket distribution, Walia and other senior leaders, including Haroon Yusuf, have openly criticised the top leadership.
