A park in Narela is being dug up for erection of mobile tower in the name of a DDA project, but the authority has no clue about it
It has been found that an illegal project of installing mobile tower is being carried out in a park of a residential colony in Narela pocket-6, sector 10. The project has been allotted by Indus Towers Ltd. to a private contractor who is carrying out the digging work for erecting the tower.
As many as eight holes measuring 21ft deep and 16 inches wide have been dug up in the park. The holes are deep enough that anybody can fall inside as the project is being carried out in a DDA park where children regularly come to play and the elders for walk.
After being informed by the residents of the colony about the project, team iamin visited the spot. When team iamin enquired about the legality of the project, the labourers working at the site said that it is a DDA project. A board that reads "DDA work in progress" has also been put up at the site but when locals enquired about the project to DDA officials, they informed that no such project has been approved by the authority.
The locals then concluded that the private agency holding the contract of Indus Towers Ltd. is using the DDA board to avoid public resistance. The work has been stopped following intervention by iamin and the local people but the holes remain uncovered posing threat to the children and elders using the park.
"Children come and play in this park as this is the only big park of this colony and these holes are deep enough to cause fatal accident. The workers have been carrying out this digging work for past four days in the name of DDA project but the authority has no clue about it," asserted a local resident.
Though the work has been temporarily stopped, the labourers say that their contractor, who is presently out of station, has called and told them that he will sort things out and the work will resume soon. Meanwhile, children of the locality were excited that the park is being renovated and will get better facilities.
"I had asked an uncle yesterday about the work and he told me that they are going to install some big swings for us to play," said Aditya, a 9 years old boy from the locality. The private contractor is be-fooling everybody here, including the children, in the name of DDA project.
