A 37-year-old man was killed on Sunday night when he fell off a Metro feeder bus on the Mehrauli-Badarpur road.

The man was heading to Badarpur with his wife, father-in-law, and three-year-old daughter, whose birthday had been celebrated last month.

The deceased has been identified as Ajay Kumar Gaurav, who worked as an Lower Divisional Clerk (LDC) at the Air Force's Military Engineering Services office at Tughlakabad. According to Ajay's father-in-law who witnessed the entire tragedy, the family had boarded the bus from Sangam Vihar to visit a relative's place in Badarpur.

"The bus had barely moved 50 metres, when the driver who was driving recklessly, suddenly applied brakes. Ajay, who was standing near the gate, lost his balance and slipped. He rolled out of the moving bus and sustained critical injuries on his face and head. We rushed him to Majidia hospital and then called up the police," said Munna, Ajay's father-in-law. He added that the doctors declared Ajay dead during treatment.

Police however made no arrests and said that they're trying to verify whose fault it was. DCP (Southeast) Romil Baaniya said that the police have registered a case of rash driving and causing death due to negligence under IPC section 304A.
