Honda City driver crushes two women, one succumbs

The deceased woman was suspected to be pregnant, however, the police said that it would be confirmed only after medical examination.

A 21-year-old woman was killed, and her 30-year-old relative critically injured, when a man, trying to practice driving, rammed a sedan into two woman working at a construction site in northwest Delhi's Ashok Vihar area early morning on Tuesday. Police have arrested the man, who is a security guard in the area.

The deceased woman was suspected to be pregnant, however, the police said that it would be confirmed only after medical examination. The incident took place when Krishna, a security guard, who also cleans the cars in locality, decided to try his hands on driving a Honda City car.

According to the police, as soon as Krishna tried to accelerate the vehicle, it sped out of control and he hit two women who were cooking nearby and rammed their bodies into a wall behind them.

"The women, Pooja and Kamlesh, were crushed between the car and the wall and both of them sustained critical injuries. Seeing them bleed, Krishna ran from the spot. Hearing the victims' cries, locals rushed to the spot and pulled out the women. While Pooja was declared brought dead at a hospital, Kamlesh is struggling for life," police said.

"The entire locality was searched and the accused was soon nabbed. CCTV footage of the incident is being scanned to establish the sequence of incidents," police said.
