In a sign of continuing frustration with developers delaying housing projects, home buyers have already lodged 100 complaints in just three days on government portals www.jansunwai.up.nic.in and www.gdaghaziabad.com.

The complaints, which have been pouring in since July 6, were with regard to the housing project Mahagun Puram Phase 2, being developed by Mahagun India.

Mahagun Puram Phase 2 is situated at NH 24 in Ghaziabad. It has four towers being developed --- Gayatri, Godavari, Narmada and Kaveri.

This project started way back in 2010 and was supposed to have been finished in 2013. However come July 2017 it has still not seen the light of the day. Buyers' representatives who have done a site visit claim that 95 per cent of work on Gayatri and Godavari towers is complete while Narmada and Kaveri towers are still under construction.

"The builder had promised us in writing that we would be offered possession of Gayatri and Godavari towers by June 30. When this did not happen, our group protested outside the developer's office on July 1," said Amit Chauhan, one of the coordinators of the Mahagun Puram Phase 2 Buyers Group.

He added that due to the failure of the developer to act on its promises, the buyers had put forth mass online complaints on the public grievance redressal websites to get the attention of higher authorities, especially the UP chief minister.

Officials at Mahagun blame the Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) and say that it is unable to get the necessary certificates from them to continue work.

Buyers also allege that the developer hid facts from them while selling the flats. CP Shukla, another buyer said, "An active cremation ground behind Phase 2 is visible from three towers namely Kaveri, Godavari and Narmada.

From the first floor to the 24th floor of Kaveri, Godavari and Narmada towers, almost 250 families will view burning bodies from the four balconies of each flat. While selling the flats to us, the builder never told us about this. Just imagine, who would like to live just in front of a cremation ground?"
