"No mother can ever kill her children. My son-in-law, along with his mother and elder brother Saleem, attacked my daughter and her children," said Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Ishaq, Mohsina's father who works with the Delhi Police.

Mohsina and Shamim got married around four years ago. That time, Shamim was working with Ansal Plaza but presently he was unemployed.

"My daughter would have fights with him as he would take drugs and even drink. At times, she was even thrashed by Shamim and his mother," said Ishaq.

Three months ago, Mohsina had come home after a fight with Shamim. She would often tell her mother about the fights and Shamin's misbehaviour.

"I took her in after she had a fight with Shamin the last time. He had hit her as well. Later on, Shamim's younger brother had called up and said that the family was missing them and they wanted to deposit some money in the daughter's name in a Fixed Deposit (FD) account. I had sent her back after that. I want the police to thoroughly investigate the case," said the father.

On the other hand, Shamim's cousin Zubaid said that Mohsina was mentally disturbed and was even taking medicines. Mohsina's family, however, refuted his claims. "My sister does not suffer from any mental illness. She is absolutely fine. If she was taking treatment, where are the papers and the doctor's prescription?" said Tarif, Mohsina's brother.

Shamim's family also said that Mohsina's father would threaten them and ask Mohsina to inflict injuries on herself so that he could then implicate Shamin and his family.

"Why would a mother kill her kids and injure herself? Why will I ask her to do all this?" said Ishaq.

According to Mohsina's family, they had gifted a car, utensils and necessary items during the wedding. Shamim's family would often ask Mohsina's father to purchase a flat if she wanted to live separately. He, however, did not fulfill their demand.

Police said that further investigation is underway in the case.
