A day after Diwali, the Capital woke up to haze and shallow fog resulting in low visibility on Friday morning. The minimum temperature was recorded at 20.5 degrees Celsius. According to the MET department, at 8.30 am the visibility was reported as 500 metres.
A calm evening gave way to thick haze and noise as the city celebrated Diwali on Thursday. Firecrackers were burst in most parts of the city, however, in less numbers than last year.
The smoke from Thursday's Diwali celebrations added to the already low visibility being reported over the past few days, marking the onset of winter.
In Lutyens' Delhi, the Raisina Hill complex, including North Block and South Block buildings and the iconic Rashtrapati Bhavan, were wrapped in mist till 10:30 am.
The relative humidity level at that time was 54%. The maximum temperature is likely to settle at 36 degrees Celsius later in the day. The Met department has forecast a clear sky on Saturday with mist or shallow fog expected in the morning.
"The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to hover around 36 degrees Celsius and 19 degrees Celsius respectively," said officials from the MET department.
