The district bar associations of both Gurugram and Sohna have passed a resolution stating that no lawyer from any of the councils will defend the accused in the Ryan International School murder case. As per law, the accused can access free legal services from the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA).

Ashok Kumar, a Ryan International School bus conductor, has been accused of murdering a seven-year-old Class II student, after trying to sexually assault him. He was produced in a local court on Saturday, where he was remanded into three-day police custody.

Rahul Kumar Sharma, Joint Secretary of the Gurugram District Bar Association, said: "I completely support the council's decision. The accused himself has confessed his guilt. All other advocates of the association are also in favour of the decision that nobody from our association will fight the case for the accused."

"How can someone commit such a brutal crime and harm a seven-year-old kid? We consider children to be the representatives of God. We have taken such a decision for the sake of a crime-free society. We strongly feel that the accused should be thrown out of the society," said Sudesh Kumar Yadav, President of the Gurugram District Bar Association.

He added: "We have this feeling that the police are in a hurry to solve the case as the election is close. But, we strongly urge the police to carry on a detailed investigation with total dedication and without any hurry."
