Gunfight in Jahangirpuri: Rahul might never be able to write again

The 14-year-old boy, injured during the gunfight in Jahangirpuri, might lose sense in his right hand as the shell of the bullet is stuck in his neck.

It was on Monday morning that Rahul got his annual results and had passed the examination with flying colours, however, soon the celebrations did not last as the boy was hit with a shell which got stuck in his neck, leaving him severely injured, along with a damaged nerve of the shoulder. Rahul since then has not been able to feel his right hand. The doctors after the initial check-up fear that he might completely lose sense of the right hand .

While Rahul's family usually doesn't let him go and play outside during the late hours, but since he had scored good marks, they let him go and celebrate.

Narrating about the incident, Rahul's mother, Vimla told DNA, "We were waiting for his result for about 15 days and everyone was happy seeing his marks. He had secured first division in every subject, so we allowed him to enjoy the day. But now, I have no one other than myself to blame for my son's condition."

Rahul was already prepared to attend the first day of Class 9 but after the incident, his parents fear if their son would ever be able to write again.

However, the parents have also alleged that doctors at the Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Hospital had left their son in pain, and they were made to suffer as no doctor paid attention towards their child. "We were made to run throughout the hospital and every doctor told us to get a new X-ray, but no one is giving a clear answer," said Vimla.
