A group of men brutally beat up a youth at Mathura Road when his car touched a bike belonging to one of them on Monday. According to the police, the youth, later identified as Virendra Pakhare, a resident of Madanpur Khadar, was trying to avoid hitting a pedestrian when he turned his car and accidentally collided with the bike.

The incident took place around 10 pm, when Pakhare was driving towards Pocket H Market near the Delhi Jal Board office. "Pakhare told us that suddenly, a youth walking besides his car came dangerously close to the vehicle.

In order to maintain safe distance from the pedestrian, Pakhare turned towards right and brushed against a bike. The biker then blocked his way and asked him to park his car,"a senior police officer said.

According to Pakhare, the accused then started abusing him and asked him to pay for the damages. This led to an argument between the two, during which the biker called his friends from a nearby colony. Even as Pakhare was trying to call the Police Control Room, four men arrived at the spot in a car and assaulted him brutally.

Pakhare further told police that the men threatened him of dire consequences, if he informed the police or registered an FIR against them.

"The locals called up the police and the victim was rushed to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Trauma Centre. He is stated to be out of danger. Based on his statement, a case has been registered and efforts are on to identify the miscreants," the officer said.

Meanwhile, no arrests were made in the case till Tuesday evening.
