A 27-year-old woman and her two-year-old disabled son died after a Wagon R they were traveling in caught fire near the Phalida village of Ragupura area of Greater Noida on Sunday night. However, the father-in-law of the woman escaped out of the car without major injuries but the duo was charred to death.

According to the police, the incident took place at around 9 pm on the Rabupura-Expressway connecting road while Madan Pal Singh was going to Faridabad after meeting his relatives with his daughter-in-law Saroj and grandson Pate Kalu.

"On Sunday night, Singh had come to his native village Chauhan, when Madan Pal was going to Faridabad in his Wagon R car. A fire broke out in his car near the village Phalida. The three did not get enough time to escape as the fire spread quickly," said Rajveer Singh Chauhan, Station House Officer (Rabupura), Gautam Budh Nagar.

However, the woman's family has alleged that she and her disabled child have been killed. They doubt it was an accident and alleged that it was rather planned. They further questioned as to how the father-in-law survived the incident.

"Since the marriage of our daughter, the in-laws had been pressurising her for dowry and sought money and a tractor from the family. They always tortured our daughter and questioned her about her disabled child. We are sure that it was clearly planned," said a family member of the deceased woman.

Villagers in the area said that they have no clue when the incident took place and heard no shouts for help. Madan Pal Singh, a resident of Kapana village in Rabupura area, lived in Faridabad and has his own business.

Police are trying to verify all the angles, however, no FIR has been registered yet.
