A video has surfaced on social media which shows a traffic police constable roughing up a jawan with belt and sticks. However, giving clarification, sources in the police stated that the jawan was attacked after a heated argument broke between the two of them due to money issues.

The viral video has once again raised questions on the behaviour of Noida Police, who have been under a lot of criticism for various reasons recently. At least 25 policemen have faced action due to various indiscipline and criminal charges from January to June, this year.

Police said the video had gone viral on Monday night in which a home guard jawan is being beaten up and walking in a semi-naked state.

The video also shows the victim crying for help but no one came forward to help him and rather were busy recording video on their phones.

According to the police, the traffic constable has been identified as Narendra Singh (40), who forcibly took Habib, a home guard jawan, to his room in the barracks at Police lines in Surajpur, Greater Noida. Singh then forcibly strips Habib and starts beating him.

"We have found that there were some monetary issues between the two due to which the altercation occurred. However, we have formed a committee to look into this matter," said Layak Singh, Inspector, Traffic Police.
