Meerut divisional Commissioner Anita C Meshram, who had been appointed by the Uttar Pradesh government to investigate the matter visited the collapse site on Thursday and assured that no offenders, directly or indirectly connected to the case, will go unpunished.

Visiting Shahberi village after 40 hours of the mishap, the divisional commissioner on Thursday afternoon and reviewed the ongoing rescue operation and ordered to fasten it.

"The rescue operation is likely to end by Friday, around 100 National Disaster Rescue Force (NDRF) personnel working on various shifts through scientific ways," said Amita C Meshram after inspecting the area to the media.

Speaking on the investigation, she said, that as of now five people have been arrested, two officials have been suspended and three inquiries are going on followed by FIR registered by the Greater Noida police. 

Moreover, cases against 24 people including the contractor, sub-contractor, builder, property dealer and architect have been registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. VP Singh, a general manager in the Greater Noida Authority and assistant general manager Akhtar Abbas Zaidi for negligence in their area were suspended.

"I assure, no offenders, directly or indirectly connected to the case, will go unpunished," said Mehsram.

She further said, "Not only the building collapse incident, the Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has also asked to inquire the rampant illegal construction in the Shahberi village and submit the entire report directly to him."

Yogi had ordered a compensation of Rs 2 lakh each for the next of kin of those dead and Rs 50,000 each to those injured.
