Grand Finale of Cryptic Crossword Contest begins

As many as 36 school teams will be competing to win the Grand Finale of the Cryptic Crossword Contest 2017, which started at Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan Auditorium, Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 2, Delhi Cantt on Tuesday.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) Commissioner Santosh Mall and Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti ( NVS), Commissioner B K Singh.

Vivek Kumar Singh, Principal Secretary, Bihar government, who is also the chief mentor of the Cryptic Crossword Contest 2017, was also present at the ceremony.

On the first day, 36 teams from India registered for the contest, of which 24 were selected for the eight quarter-finals. The teams comprised winners of the city rounds. The quarter final teams will then compete in the three semi-finals followed by a final. The winning team in the final will lift the National Crossword Trophy. The winning teams will be awarded on Thursday.

The current edition of the contest is fifth in the series that was started in 2013. KVS, NVS and Doordarshan are the event partners this year.
