The girls rescued from Rohini's Adhyatmik Vishwa Vidyalaya were being force fed a suspected intoxicant to keep them from raising their voice against their sexual exploitation, the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) alleged. Meanwhile, the Delhi High Court (HC) on Friday directed the police and the DCW to conduct raids on eight other identified locations belonging to the ashram in Delhi-NCR.

Talking to DNA, DCW chief Swati Maliwal said during the raid conducted by their team and the police, hundreds of letters written by victims to the Baba were found and they all had explicit content.

"It is suspected that the girls in confinement were forced to write letters to the Baba with sexual content. A chemical was also recovered, which the victims were apparently forced to drink. It seemed to be an intoxicant, which kept the girls out of their senses," Maliwal said.

She also said that the HC has now directed that the eight other identified properties of the Ashram be raided by a joint team of DCW, Delhi Police, and other agencies concerned. The court further directed the lawyers to inform about the addresses of these locations.

Meanwhile, the 41 rescued girls are being rehabilitated. "The Child Welfare Committee is the competent authority to carry out their counselling and rehabilitation. Efforts to trace their families are being made. Their age verification is also being done," the DCW chief said.

Locals living near the ashram have also been raising their voice regarding the matter. They said they had been witnessing suspicious activities for a long time.

Vijay Sharma, who owns a shop near the Ashram in Vijay Vihar, told DNA that vehicles would arrive at odd hours. "Girls were seen often but no one has ever seen the Baba. We suspected that something fishy was underway. Many a times, parents and family members of some girls would come to the Ashram to meet their daughters, but were not allowed in, leading to ruckus," Sharma said.
