Ghaziabad police on Saturday claimed to have worked out the sensational case of the murder of the father of an IPS officer. The police arrested the IPS's officer's brother, identified as Anuj Tyagi alias Dabbu, and said that he had murdered his father.

65-year-old Sanjeev Tyagi, was allegedly shot dead by his son, Dabbu at his Ghaziabad residence on May 11. Dabbu is believed to have been suffering from schizophrenia.

"An FIR under section 302 of IPC was registered at Kavinagar police station against the deceased's youngest son Dabbu who shot the deceased at about 4.15 AM. Dabbu is suffering from schizophrenia and is undergoing treatment at Vimhans Hospital Delhi for the same. Three teams have been formed to nab the accused. All angles are being explored," Ghaziabad superintendent of police Akash Tomar had then told DNA.

After the incident, Dabbu was absconding and police were conducting raids to nab him.

Asked about the motive of the murder, police stated that the deceased, during sustained interrogation, told them that he was reeling under financial burden. There was no financial support from the family hence he was angry over the same.

Dabbu is believed to have discussed his situation with his friend Rajat Choudhary alias Jhonny. Jhonny then allegedly advised Dabbu to eliminate his father and during the property distribution, he would get his share.

Dabbu's friend Jhonny, and one more friend Rahul Choudhary, arranged a weapon for him and as per the plan he shot his father dead and fled from the scene in a Toyota Fortuner SUV. He parked the SUV at Ghaziabad railway station and went to Agra in a cab. He also contacted his friends for some money.

Police officials say they were able to trace Dabbu through a tip-off. They laid a trap for him through a team in plain dress and arrested the accused.

Police officials also said that they have recovered weapons used in the crime and have recovered the CCTV footages to establish the case.
