Generous kin donate victims’ eyes

Amid the worst tragedy of their lives, parents of two students Sanchit and Ritu killed in the Monday mishap showed exemplary spirit of generosity when they decided to light up somebody else’s world by donating the eyes of their children.

While Ritu’s eyes will be donated to two children, Sanchit’s eyes have also been put up for donation. “The doctors told me they will call me once her eyes have reached the recipient. At least, someone else will be able to see the bright side of the world,” Ritu’s father Malkhan Singh said.

“She was studying till 4 am. I asked her to sleep but she had always been studious. She was the youngest among the three sisters,” he added.

Sanchit’s father Raj Kumar said: “The donation organisation approached us and we decided to donate his eyes.”

Meanwhile, Garima and Raja are undergoing treatment at the AIIMS trauma centre.
