Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's nephew, Vinay Bansal, was arrested by the Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) on Thursday for his alleged involvement in a PWD scam. Bansal, son of Kejriwal's brother in-law Surender Bansal, was picked up early morning from his residence in northwest Delhi's Pitampura.

The ACB had filed three FIRs last year against Renu Constructions and named Surender and others. Surender passed away soon after he was named. The FIRs were registered on a complaint by Rahul Sharma, founder of NGO Roads Anti-Corruption Organisation (RACO). It alleged irregularities in the grant of contracts for roads and sewer lines in 2015-16.

Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia reacted sharply and said: "For the Centre and the L-G, in the last three years, Delhi Police and ACB exist only to harass AAP leaders, ministers, their relatives and even their children. If they (police and ACB) do not do it, they are pulled up."

The accused was sent to jail as part of a one-day judicial custody.
