A class 9 student of St Francis School in Indirapuram was abducted and murdered allegedly by his "friends" in Ecotech area of Greater Noida. According to police, the suspects — Avdhesh (19) and a juvenile — asked Ayush Sharma, a resident of Indirapuram, to get money from his father and come to Vaishali on April 16. He was found dead the next day.

Both suspects, who were planning to demand Rs40 lakh from Ayush's family, have been arrested.

The duo drugged Ayush, after he failed to bring the money, and were taking him to Greater Noida on a motorcycle; but he fell off the vehicle. "They panicked and killed him by smashing his head and face," said Vaibha Krishan, Senior Superintendent Of Police, Ghaziabad. A third person who was part of the conspiracy is at large, police said.

"Our initial investigation has revealed that the suspects called the boy on his mobile phone at 1:37 pm on April 16, the day he went missing. His family filed a missing person's complaint the next day. The two revealed the location of the boy's body," said Vaibha Krishan, Senior Superintendent Of Police, Ghaziabad.

"During interrogation, the duo revealed that they had called him to Vaishali with money as they wanted to pay their debts and asked Sharma to get money from his father. However, the victim didn't take money along with him. In Vaishali, they had an argument over money so they planned to kidnap him and demand money from his father," said Krishan.

Though the police said they were Ayush's friends, his family members said they had never heard of them.
