According to police, the Italian national has been identified as Giovanni Farris, 55, who was on his way to Agra from Delhi.
Another disaster took place on the Yamuna Expressway, as five persons including an Italian national were severely injured after the cars in which they were travelling collided on Yamuna Expressway in Dankaur area of Greater Noida on Saturday morning.
According to police, the Italian national has been identified as Giovanni Farris, 55, who was on his way to Agra from Delhi. He had come on a holiday trip and had planned to visit Taj Mahal. "Farris was travelling in a Maruti Swift Dzire car, which was driven by Vikram Singh, who also got injured. The Dzire was speeding and collided with the Mahindra TUV 300, which was moving slowly as its tyre had deflated. In the Mahindra car, there were seven occupants, of which three got injured and four escaped unhurt," said Farmood Ali Pundir, Dankaur police station.
Police said the injured occupants were identified as Hukum Singh, 60, his wife Kusum Devi 55, and grandson Abhay. They were shifted to Kailash Hospital in Greater Noida. The Italian national was sitting on the rear seat of the car Dzire when it hit the sports utility vehicle. Farris received an injury to his neck. Passersby spotted the car lying damaged on the road and called the police control room. Following the information, a police team rushed to the spot.
"The Mahindra TUV had seven occupants, who were on way to the Jewar after attending a marriage function. The Mahindra car's tyre punctured and the driver tried to take it into a side lane. He did not notice the Dzire car coming from behind which rammed into his car." said a senior police officer.
A spokesperson of Kailash hospital said that the Italian national Farris suffered clavicle fractures and scratches on the hand. The three occupants seated in the Mahindra are out of danger and undergoing treatment, while the driver Vikram was discharged, the spokesperson added.
Police said they did not receive any complaint and no case was registered.
