Sanjeev Yadav, DCP, Special Cell said that the mastermind behind the cash van heist Bharat Bhushan alias Tony was to come towards Khair Village Canal in his Eco car, the number of which was already with the police. " At 5:20 am, the car was intercepted by the police but instead of stopping he tried to run over them. A police officer fired at the tyre which burst and the car stopped after hitting a divider. With a bag in one hand and a pistol in another, Tony started running and fired at the police party but the bullets hit the bulletproof vests of the officers. The officers fired back and a bullet hit his leg," said Yadav. Eight cases of robbery and murders have been solved with their arrests.
The police recovered a .32 bore pistol, a magazine and Rs 3.3 lakh cash from the bag he was carrying. The police had on Tuesday arrested four of his associates identified as Mahavir Singh (34), Deepak alias Mantar (32), Gurucharan (35) and Vikas Bhardwaj alias Dharmender (24).
On April 26, a cash van robbery took place near DSIDC Vardhman Mall in which three bike-borne assailants shot dead the gunman and the cashier of SIS Prosegur Company. The employees of the company had come to collect the cash from DSIDC Narela.
As soon as they collected the cash from a wine shop at Vardhman Mall, the accused attacked them. The accused decamped with cash worth Rs 12 lakh out of which the police have rcovered Rs 8,20,000.
