An officer in the Delhi Fire Services confirmed the deaths, stating that on April 4, one person died in a fire that broke out in the Swaroop Nagar area, while another was injured in this incident.

In past five days, eight people were charred to death in the Capital, in six different incidents, while at least 10 were critically injured. With the onset of summers which witnesses increased fire incidents, the Delhi Fire Services is all geared up to tackle the menace.
An officer in the Delhi Fire Services confirmed the deaths, stating that on April 4, one person died in a fire that broke out in the Swaroop Nagar area, while another was injured in this incident. On April 5, a major fire in Rohini injured five people. Fortunately, no one died in the incident.
"Further on April 7, a fire at the Bhorgarh industrial area claimed two lives, while on the same day in Naraina four people sustained critical burns after a minor fire broke out. Then on April 8, one person was reported dead in a fire in the Sarita Vihar area," the officer said.
Keeping the situation in mind, the fire department has made special arrangements as summers usually witness a high number of fire incidents.
Recently, the fire department bought 60 new fire tenders. Talking about preparations, Chief Fire Officer, Atul Garg said, April 15 onwards, four fire posts will be installed at different fire-prone areas in the Capital.
"The department also restricts holidays of firemen to deal with emergency situations. We also appeal to people to not stash flammable items under direct sunlight. Wiring of residential colonies and offices shall be regularly inspected. Precautions shall be taken that no extra load is put on transformers, which may lead to short circuit, causing a fire," Garg said.
