Fire incidents were reported from two factories in Outer Delhi's Narela area on Monday evening. No one was injured in the incident.
According to fire officials, a fire call was received on Monday evening regarding a fire at a shoe sole making factory. Initially, 10 fire tenders were rushed to the spot. The fire which was in the shoe factory soon spread to the adjacent plastic factory. "A call was received at 4:24 pm and the fire was doused by 6:30 pm. It took 27 fire tenders to douse the fire," said a fire official.
Police officials stated that a possible short-circuit might have led to the fire, however, they are awaiting the final report to ascertain what exactly led to the fire. Even though there were workers inside the factory none of them sustained any injury. The fire also damaged the adjacent buildings and a herd of workers rushed out to save themselves. A minor traffic snarl was also reported.
Keeping the situation in mind, the fire department has made special arrangements as summers usually witness a high number of fire incidents.
Recently, the fire department bought 60 new fire tenders. Talking about preparations, Chief Fire Officer, Atul Garg said, April 15 onwards, four fire posts will be installed at different fire-prone areas in the Capital.
